Mariah Plante is a theatre maker, director, and teaching artist who specializes in creating theatre for young audiences and large scale puppetry. She received her theatrical training in New York City, earning a BFA in Acting and Drama Therapy from Marymount Manhattan College as well as performance and production experience in downtown venues such as the TANK, 13th Street Repertory Theater, HERE Arts Center, and LaMama.
As a teaching artist, Mariah strives to facilitate a fun, safe, and collaborative environment for artists of all ages and abilities to stretch the boundaries of their creativity. She’s the director of the Wyoming East High School Theatre program; a founding member of Homegrown Theatre Co. and Appalachian Artists Collective; a board member of the Alban Arts Center, and the West Virginia Theatre Association (WVTA); and serves as the West Virginia State Representative to South Eastern Theatre Conference (SETC). Mariah joined the Theatre West Virginia team as a teaching artist in 2024 and now serves as Educational and Development Coordinator.
